If you are interested in both side hardware and software then you can do following certified courses:
A+ Exam Questions
CompTIA A+ Certification
CCNA Practice Test
CCNA Certification

When you say "software" do you mean things like working with and configuring OS's or do you mean programing? I would guess you probably mean the former.

Start with A+. That should help you decide better which direction you want to go in.

CCNA is excellent, but I wouldn't go that way unless you are interested in it. And I would start with Net+ as a basis to move to Cisco certs. Personally I love networking but it is much higher pressure than just swapping hardware in someones computer. When you are working on a router or switch and there is the potential to take down an entire network and bring business to a screeching halt with one mistyped character in a configuration it's a whole different ballgame. ;)
