im trying to connect to my families network from upstairs. The last time the power went out i lost my network settings. Im using an xbox live wireless adapter which works fine. It says limited or no connectivity when i enable the connection. When i manually enter the ip subnet ect it says connected and appears to be working but the internet still doesnt work. as soon as i click to automatically assign network settings the limited or no connectivity thing pops up. WHAT DO I Do. Im getting really frustrated.

how far away is the Xbox? (Rough guess in feet, and/or if it is on different floors) What router and who made the wifi adapter?

there is no xbox involved in this issue you can use an xbox wireless adapter to connect to the internet if you plug it into the computer. its a linksys wireless g and a motorolla modem

is the network comming in with a strong signal? Also, is there any mac filtering or security of some sort? Are you able to connect to another computer through the network?

yes its a full signal i know thats not the problem. I think it cant connect to the DHCP because it cant auto assign me an Ip when i manually enter an ip and subnet mask it instantly says fully connected but in reality the internet still doesnt work

Unlike you, some or most of us have real jobs and can't sit around posting at a message board expecting it to react like an instant messenger or chatroom. I realize your thread spans over 4 days but many of us are quite busy.

Your cussing is only making you look childish. This is a family site with young members and even younger ones on elders laps. Please use patience and courtesy or proper etiquette.

Now,
You need to describe your OS and firewall plus any other softwares which can interfere with your networking or internet connections. The details you've given so far only indicate your access point and your router/modem. We need more if you expect us to help. Maybe that is why some of us were or are hesitant to jump in and assist you.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling your firewall for starters. Especially, IMO, if it is ZoneAlarm.
