I have a problem. Anything plugged into my USB port does not work. I had bought a joystick, cd burner and a modem - none of them worked. My USB is enabled, I checked in setup. What can be wrong? Is there something I can do to fix this myself or do I need to bring my computer in to be serviced?
Thanks
Jill

Did you go to Device Manager and checked if you have any conflict ? If not go to Control Panel->System->Device Manager-> check for conflicts. Also select usb controller and then select the usb hubs and click on properties and make sure all of them have Exists in all harware profiles checked.
Hope this helps.

Silly question, but what OS are you using and what revision?

Hey Jill...Just to add what's been said...I recently found out that my particular USB chipset doesn't cooperate with Win 98 or 98SE due to timing issues. Once you go into the Device manager and determine if there are conflicts (mine was indicating "no drivers") you may be able to search for patches that will help. I found a couple after searching on Yahoo with the chipset name. I have the SiS 7001 USB chipset. Good Luck http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
