How do I clean my CD-ROM drive i'm having problems with it and was told this should be step one

Remove the CD ROM from the case, (make note of the orientation of the ribbon and audio cables), take the top off the CD ROM, look for two round rubber or plastic drive hubs, and clean them with Q-tips and rubbing alcohol. Don't pour alcohol into the unit. Don't touch the laser lens either, CD cleaner disks are available for about $10 to clean it. Let the unit dry with the cover on for about an hour then reinstall it.
