I forgot the OS. I'll probably dual boot to begin with...either XP Pro 64 or Vista 64 and Windoze 7RC. Depending on what I think of W7, that will likely become the main OS when it's final, if what I've read in many, many reviews is true..

I didn't like XP all that much (it grew on me, over time...kind of like a fungal infection) and I loathe Vista (not quite as much as ME, but there is very little that earns that amount of loathing)...but I like W7...not enough to give up Slackware, but well enough that I wouldn't have any objections to recommending it.

I got the case today. It took Newegg 24 hours to get it here--free. Amazing.

The customer reviews were spot on--the case is phenomenal in terms of looks (military/alien), airflow (3 obscenely huge 200mm blue LED fans and mounts for two more), ease of access (in seconds you can strip it to a bare metal frame and get to everything from every angle), the plastic parts (mainly drive and expansion fasteners) are delicate, and the instruction pamphlet stinks (but I can figure out wiring and assembly myself).

This is gonna be fun.

MJC--I'm OK with XP Pro. Vista on the other hand IS the number one technological flop in the last decade ((I think that was in an article on ARS). MS should offer a free upgrade to W7 for every dissatisfied customer planet-wide. I'm one. I didn't buy it by choice. I came back from Japan and all my computers were on a ship making their way to customs on the left coast. I wouldn't have any for months. I went into geek withdrawal and went to buy a nice laptop. The ONLY option was Vista. I used it till my stuff arrived. Barely touched it since. When the time comes, I'll probably put W7 on top of it.

I also still have a Linux box...Suse 10.3.
