Best Processor???

If you are building a system would you prefer:


Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3 ghz
Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 2.5 ghz

Office environment with some fairly intensive database use. There will be six of these PC's attached to a server.

If the database program is going to take advantage of the quad then yes, but if it is an older program the .5 GHz faster dual core with more L2 cache would be prefered in my opinion.

Another thing to consider is if the users will be running several other programs at the same time you may want to go quad. If this DB program will primarily be the only thing running then the dual may be better.

This is also assuming XP. I believe vista uses multiple cores a little better.
