Need an Operating System using the least memory ??

Hi Its me again. I have discovered that the computer I have been pulling my hair out over doesn't have enough memory to run windows not even 3.11 is there another o/s that uses less memory than windows? if so please let me know..thanks..cheryl http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

You've probably already heard that memory prices have dropped through the floor so I won't preach that this is the best thing you could do for your system. I believe Linux operates well on limited resources. It is a different world...you can use a windows-similar GUI but of course that calls for memory. Just do a search on Google or another big search engine and you'll find plenty of info on Linux. There are several ways to acquire Linux free also http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

How much memory does the system have? Windows 3.1 will run on 4M, although much better on 8 or 16M.
