I have 2 hard drives. The 21 gb one that came with my computer and a 40 gb Maxtor I bought a while back. I needed to format so I put everything I would need on my maxtor drive and formatted the other one. Now I have WinMe loaded back up on my 21 gb hd and when I try to click on the Maxtor it says this Hard drive is not formatted would you like to format it. Is there any way I can get the computer to recognize it as it was before with all my stuff on it? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Mike

How's the weather in San Marcos? I worked there for about a year, loved the place...

Anyway, don't quite understand your question, but I can tell you what I'd do. Install both drives, with the 40GB drive as Master, the smaller one as Slave. Use the installation software that came with the Maxtor to install the drive and transfer the data from the old one to the new one, that should get it ready and transfer all data including a working Operating System.

If you had everything but a working OS on the other drive, you'll need to boot to a ME start up disk, format and install from there.

If I'm still missing the point, try to post your question again, (here in this topic, not in a new one please) and clear it up a bit so we have an idea what you're situation is and what you want to do. Need to know how the drives are set up now, which is Master etc.

Weather is cold. But cold is good now adays.
Sorry about not explaining better. I have my drive with the OS, set up as master. And my other drive that just stores extra things, the 40 gb one set as slave. When I formatted I just formatted the master drive with the OS on it and I reinstalled windows. I haven't setup the Master drive to see the slave drive yet because I wasnt sure what I needed to do and I didnt want to risk losing all the data on there. How do I set up windows to see the slave drive with everything it had on it before and not have to format it? The slave drive is spilt into 2 partions, 10 and 30. Hope thats better.
