Kaspersky says they found malware loaded on netbooks with Windows XP that was most likely compromised before leaving the factory.
Moral of the story: Scan all new devices and PCs before putting them into use.

Yeah, I just installed my new blog and guess what! Google flagged it for distributing Malware.
I had Avira on my system and detected nothing. I don't think that these antivirus are worth a penny anymore.
My hosting service did a great job, you know Hostgator. They cleaned everything (as they said). I used Malware Bytes though, looked pretty good to me then Kaspersky of course.

Use Avira Antivir. It is a better antivirus.

No reflection on Avira though.

Was the malware addition across the board (all mfg) or just certain brands? I am shopping for an under 400.00 netbook and would just like to avoid problems.

Just the brand in the linked article.
My point: scan any new PC or storage device before use, even digital picture frames.
