OS: WinXP SP2 professional edition.
Computer: Biostar NF4UL-A9, Athlon XP, 512MB ram.
I have a BT878 video capture card which worked perfectly fine until I started toying around with capture settings in Virtual Dub.
Here's what I did.
In the "Capture mode", Under Video/Format menu, I selected YVU9 instead of RGB24 format, and then **** hit the fan.
The following happened:
Directx overlay mode from the video capture card doesn't work anymore.
I can't switch back to RGB24 format in Virtual Dub, because Microsoft WDM Image Capture thing no longer works (when I select it, Vdub says "connecting to the device" and hangs forever). I'm getting a tiny, choppy picture in Vdub when using "Conexant capture" mode, and in this mode the program doesn't allow me to change the capture format back to the original (the entire menu is grayed out).
I removed the drivers for the BT878 card and removed all the registry entries.
Reinstalled the card drivers. No avail.
Reinstalled Directx9. Now I'm not even getting the sound from the capture card anymore, even when using the external loopback cable from the video capture card to the sound card.
Playing audio/video files still works normally. At this point I would just toss the towel in the ring and reinstall XP from the scratch, but I'm going to save that as a last resort if everything else fails.
So guys, how can I restore the functionality of the video capture card without having to reinstall windows?
