Sounds like a scam to me... I would much rather use the Hunger Site which doesn't require that I install more software and go through a site with unclear intentions to make that donation:

I again caution people to be careful about this deal, both because of the hidden catches in the offer and the fact that many other sites allow the possibility of donating without any strings attached... Budfred, thanks for brining to my attention that you were having trouble accessing the site. I'm sorry for the inconvience, of it saying that you have to download silverlight. Silverlight IS NOT required to view the site, it is supposed to revert to html if you don't have silverlight.

Many people can access the site without silverlight and without downloading it, however we realize some people aren't able to access the site without it. I uninstalled silverlight and I was able to access it.

The sites developers are at work on the problem now and the issue should be resolved by Monday. I hope that you will give it a shot then, its for a great cause.
