We are running a multimedia application at a museum. we want to switch of the current each evening by disconnecting the plug from the wall.
In the morning we will put back the plug and we want the computer to autostart the application. We are running under Wiondows ME.
At present when we do the above we get a message that force us to use the computers switch. Under normal circumstances this is not available because it is hidden in a kiosk. We are talking of several kiosks in the museum. How do we change the system in such a way that it can be autostarted from putting the electrical plug in the wall ?

If I am reading the message correctly the computer does not start up when you plug it back into the wall outlet. A couple of ideas that come to mind:

First, some mobo BIOS will allow you to set the computer to return to a "on" state after power is restored following a power failure. This is not the default setting and is not available on all systems.

A second, more drastic approach would be to run a pair of fine wires from the power switch connector on the mobo to a momentary switch which could be mounted in an unobtrusive but accessible location on the kiosk. You would need to get the parts (connector, wire, and switch) for this type of setup or canibalize them from an old system.
