A neighbor has an old file her deceased husband created (a cookbook) and has a .otm extension. It also has a backup file (.bak) in the folder but it wont open without the proper program to open it. Any one heard of this cookbook program-recipe creator? Or any way to convert to a recent program?

If you Google Micro Cookbook you will find quite a lot of unhappy users but little help for getting this product to work. Apparently it was a product from ISMI who used the file format .otm but they no longer support the product.

EBay might be one way (http://cgi.ebay.com.my/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120270523150) for outdated software but I wonder what OSes support running it.

Try opening one of the files with Notepad and you may find that there is much available meaningful text, possibly in some kind of database or CSV or XML type format. Zip up a file and if not too large just upload one here and it would give a chance of properly "de-ciphering it".
