hey everyone

i have vista on my dell and due to the fact that i let my lil kids play on the computer they have put a bunch of crap onto it. i was wondering if someone can help me put the computer back into the state it was when i first got it(factory). i don't have the actual vista disk.

Dell, like most OEM builders has the restoration files loaded on a separate partition on the HDD. Did you burn the restoration CDs/DVD that would give you the restoration files on media?
I would first recommend going to an earlier System Restore Point in Windows to get rid of recent changes the kids may have done to your PC. (Much less harsh than a full destructive restoration).

If System Restore doesn't do it for you boot to the Vista DVD that ships with just about every Dell system these days, keep pressing F8 during startup and choose the Repair Option. That should give you a number of options including a factory reinstall.
