searching the web, the images I've found don't show any form of EQ, what is there to adjust? I have my speakers (gotten cheaply...) cranked up, and I do all volume control via the software in windows. The Sub Woofer is usually on the floor, and the speakers are usually on either sides of the monitor pointed towards where I sit, so the sounds hit my head equally

that might be the case, but I notice while driving, if I have my zune maxed out on the volume it sounds horrible unless I have the volume total level really quiet, when I have it about halfway, it sounds really good at most lvls. Setting up speakers are a work of art, just play around till they sound good. unless you are doing delicate audio work, there are very few speakers that don't produce a good sound.

are you familiar with the creative a200 speakers? also you tube vids sound like crap...should i maybe lower the vol level on the computer and just turn it up on the speakers?

no, I am not, I got my speakers either for free from parents as hand-me-downs, or 20 dollars at radio shack. Making speakers sound good is a work of art.

Turn the computer volume all the way down. then turn the speakers all the way up. then turn the volume up slowly on the speakers till you get things to sound good, then stay in that range on the computer.
