View Full Version : WVC1 codec
Hi all,
I have some videos which when attempted to play give an error message of "WVC1 codec not found". I tried google many times, but no luck.
My O.S is Windows XP SP2
I have tried it in WMP9/10, Jet Audio6 and Power DVD 7 without any success.
Any solution please?

Try VLC media player (http://www.videolan.org/) or Media Player Classic (http://download.cnet.com/Media-Player-Classic/3000-2139_4-10518778.html)
What is the file extension of these files? .avi, .mpg .wmv .mov etc?
You can copy one of the files to another folder and then try changing the extension to a more common one. Sometimes it works, other times not but it is worth a try if all else fails.
EDIT:
It appears that you need to use WMP11 and may need additional codecs added as mentioned in some of these (http://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&channel=s&hl=en&q=WVC1&btnG=Google+Search) links in a Google Search.
Thanks @Fruss Tray Ted
These files are "wmv". The sound plays but no video.
Changing the extension didn't make any difference.
Media Player Classic also fails to play the video with the following error message:
"Media Player Classic could not render some pins in the graph. You may not have the needed codecs or filters installed.
The following pins failed to find a connectable filter:
blah blah....."
Will try downloading the VLC player when the connection speed is good.
Ok...so let me go through the google search results, if i could understand the stuff inside.

Try installing the full K-lite codec pack (http://www.codecguide.com/download_kl.htm), or even the mega pack.
If the codec isn't in there...
The VLC Player worked !!
Thanks for the help.
