Hello! Late last week I was watching a T.V. show online and ever since Firefox has been freezing and crashing. Programs that use the internet such as AIM (and as of today using AIM Express, which worked yesterday, causes Firefox to crash), iTunes, and Google Earth won't work at all. I've tried running the spyware and malware programs on my computer as well as RegScrubXP and CCleaner. I've done a disk cleanup. I did a free scan of RegCure and it found 1536 errors. If I went ahead and purchased the software would it fix the problem?

Any help is appreciated!
Alex

No. I can pretty much guarantee that those are false positives trying to get you to buy the most likely totally useless program that will surely do more harm than good. ;)

Sorry I can't help you with your problem but stay away from any program that does that.

If you have a different user account, try logging in there and running Firefox. Otherwise, create a new account and then run Firefox. If it works properly there, your Firefox profile is corrupted.

Geez...P.T. Barnum is rolling over in his grave.

Playing with the registry is like playing with nitro...best left to experts...and even then, I don't know...red wire...or green wire? Bottom line, 90 no make that 99 percent of registry cleaners are B.S. You were duped and scammed.

You should probably enlist Budfred or Classic's help to be sure a "bug" is not causing this...but...

Suggestions...if "legitimate" malware scans are clean:

1. Disable all FF add ons...themes, plug ins, etc. They can cause havoc after an update. See what happens. If no joy:
2. Reinstall FF. It could have gotten fubar'd for some reason. If no joy:
3. Do a System Restore to the day before all this happened.

Start a new thread and post an HJT log (http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?t=60009)in the applications and security section (http://www.pcguide.com/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=34). One of them will be around at some point to look it over.
