well ur friend isnt alone !! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/eek.gif

I have not heard of one person that prefered ME!!

It sounds like u have the basics to do this. I am not familiar (personally) with the ins and outs of doing this ME to 98. I had heard something about newer systems hardware and software being configured adn that being a problem.

I just got done re-installing win95 in an old 486, so I sure don't qualify as any 'expert'. But it seems to me the proceedure would basically be the same.

#1) back up all of your key codes for all software (so u can re-install it all)

Then boot to 'boot-disk' let it find ur cd-rom drive, and do setup.

You will probably need to do fdisk to partition your C drive. and then "format c:"

and then setup.

others (much more experienced than I) will be along to help, I'm sure http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/tongue.gif

1. Fdisk is not necessary unless you need to repartition the drive or set it up as FAT32, if it's FAT16 now, which I doubt.

2. The instructions above are basically correct, if incomplete...

3. To save me a lot of typing:

Quick Guide to a win98 Fresh Start (http://www.hardwarehell.com/fdisk.htm) has all the instructions, you'll probably be able to skip the fdisk and boot to the win98 start up disk, format the drive, then install win98.

The main thing to remember is to regress to a previous version of windows you have to format the drive first.
