How can i get windows to recognise my Zip and CD-RW dirve when backing up.
All it offers me is tape and floppy drive.

I don't think Microsoft Backup will recognize anything but tape and floppy. You'll have to use another backup program to use zip drive or CD. That's about the only thing I don't like about it, otherwise it works very well, it's virtually the same as Seagate's Backup Exec, minus a few options that I don't really miss...

McAffee's Nuts & Bolts will make a disk image, which you can transfer to CD, Norton System Works might do the same, and other image programs are available for that too.

For the zip drive, you might need a different backup program, or you can copy the files you want to save, I think drag & drop in Windows Explorer should do the trick.

Well I don't know about the other Windows OS' but win Win 98SE just open backup and when it asks where to back up choose your CDRW drive. I've successfully done this. I have a zip drive also, but it does not show in the choices.
Not sure if the type of CDRW drive and/or software plays a role in deciding whether or not you can backup to it...I have Adaptec Direct CD installed so maybe that is why it is allowing me to go to CDRW.
