I was watching a CD movie and before i shut down the first movie, i instantly opened the CD-Drive and chnaged the CD.This has caused my CD-Drive stucked and couldn't be opened again. It failed to display anything and the green light on the CD-Drive didn't light up to indicate reading. What must i do? Is it out of order?

There is a very small "pinhole" looking thing on most cd rom drives in the front of the drive.....you can put a straightened out paper clip in it to unlock and open the drive door (if that is the problem). You have to push the pin in until the door opens. If not, I would take the computer to a repair place and let them fix it!

I read your instructions and i did what u want me to do it.It worked and managed to get the CD out but i think at the same time my CD-Rom is not working anymore as it didn't light up the green light. It couldn't eject itself automatically.Do you think i should replace it? I just replaced it a couple of month ago due to the same problem. What was the caused of it?
Thank you for your help!!! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

It's impossible for me to know "what caused it"; however, if you replaced the cd rom just a few mo's ago with a cd of the SAME BRAND, I would change brands this time! Hopefully your CD is in warranty.....tell the people you bought it from that you are tired of trying that brand of CD Rom and what another brand in replacement!!!

Hello again,
Thanks for the quick reply.
1. What is the best brand for CD-Rom that u can introduce for me to use?
2. I wanted to use microphone for voice chat. The problem is people can hear me but i can't hear them. I tested the microphone on other audio items and i can hear sound and also my voice when i try to use voice chat. What's the problem? Does it require certain software to install?

There are several decent CD Rom Manufacturers out there. I've never had a Mitsumi CD Rom come back as defective, also, Phillips, Sony and Creative Labs make decent CD's. Stay away from BTC, Delta and Afreey.....they are cheap and dont last long with strong use.
The reason you can't hear anyone else when you are in voice chat (but they can hear you) is that your microphone is set up correctly, but you don't have the "Wave" drivers set up correctly for your sound card. Go to a room in the chat area that is for newcomers and ask (type) someone to walk you through how to set the sound card in your system up to work in that Chat Program......there is usually someone who can help. Typically, you would double click on the Horn looking thing next to your time at the bottom right of the task bar.......go to options, ADD wave and turn up the sound vol for wave .....now you can hear them!

My vote goes to Mitsumi. This old 16X has been running perfect for 4 years, with one drive hub cleaning, and my old 24X did about the same, but is due for another cleaning now...soon as I get it back from my neice...I think it'll go back in her machine for another round.
For your sound problem, open the main volume controls, as described above, and make sure Wave is not muted, as well as turning up the volume. You need the Playback controls, the Recording controls affect what goes out over the Internet, or into the Sound Recorder.

Thanx again pal,
By the way, u mentioned about the horn looking thing next to my time at the right bottom. I last saw it a couple of week ago and i don't really concern about it. How do i retrieve it ?

If you dont have a horn thingy next to the time.......your sound card drivers are not installed correctly in all likelyhood. Go to My Computer/Control Panel/System/click Device Manager tab and scroll down to "Sound/Video & Game Controllers"....see if you have the sound card drivers even loaded......if not, go to "Add Hardware" and let Win re-detect the sound card and load drivers for ya.
