Hi, I am gonna be buying a new computer to replace my 5 year old dell..And i was wondering if i buy a computer without a Operating system installed(to save money) if i can install my XP disc on it and use the product key that is on my old computer? Or will it not work? The computer i was looking at is for $310 with shipping and all. Or would i just be better off buying a computer with a OS already installed, because for one with a os installed it is only $340 but it is not as good performance wise compared to the one wihout a OS(it is still good enough for what i want to use it for.)

If you are talking about a copy of WinXP that came with your Dell computer when you purchased, it is extremely unlikely that you will be able to use it on anything other than the same type of Dell computer... That means that you are better off going with it already installed or going with a Linux install if you really want to save money and get more speed... Unfortunately, Linux requires a learning curve and may not work with the software you want to use...
