My old MSI motherboard with a P3500 MHz chip got cooked, so I had a new Asus with a P3800 MHz chip installed. And ever since I am having a lot of freezeups. I ran WinTune and I get freeze up's during the video test every time, when I turned off the hardware accelerator in the display control panel it does not freeze up. I installed the latest driver but that did not make any difference. The video board is a S3 Savage4. I am getting the run around from the guys who installed the motherboard so does anyone have any suggestions what the problem could be, or a possible solution.

Jim the only thing I can think of right away is maybe heat related. That new processor could generate considerably more heat along with the video card this could be enough to warrant adding another cooling fan and maximizing your internal setup to acieve adequate air flow.

I forgot to add that adding the new processor there may need to be some jumper modifications to accomodate the cpu like voltage and bus settings. Improper jumper (whether it is soft bios or actual jumpers) would likely result in this type of activity.

Thanks Jerry, I installed a new video card and that seems to have solved the problem. Apparently the old card couldn't keep up with the new technology!--- Jim

Actually, the old Savage 4 can keep up with the mobo; however, you have to slow the mobo down (as it relates to the peripherals!). The Sagage 4 isnt a real good card anyways, so it's a good idea that you changed it anyway.

Os2 wasn't a bad idea...

Upgrading, It never ends!!

I had the same problem with my modem, a GVC. After that run on the Internet for about 10 minutes my system would crash. I talked the guys at the computer shop into trading me an Aopen and now it works fine.
I hope I'm finished now.-- Jim
