Open Office

I have been using Office 97 for quite some time. I think I will now start using Open Office. I've got quite a few files made with MSWord which have a DOC file extension. I know that I can change the files to Open Office which have a ODT extension, but I have been doing it individually with each file. Is there a way that I can change them all at once? Thanks.

Can you not just associate the .doc file type with the OO writer?
