bought this hp scanjet 4300c scanner two months ago for the express purpose of enlarging photographs. now, two months later, i still can't do it.have contacted hp 5 times, and they tell me everything but what i need to know. if someone is familar with this scanner, and could tell me how to enlarge a wallet size photo to an 8x10, i would be very grateful, as i am about to throw this thing in the trash!!!

Enlarging is usually done with the photo editing software, not by the scanner itself. You'll need to scan at high resolution (dots per inch) to get good quality after enlarging, then edit the picture in your photo software.

Check the menu bar, you should have an option to set a ruler in the view, and set it to inches. Look for a resize opton, and use it to resize the picture.

If it gets really grainy or blocky, scan at even higher resolution.

If you want to print onto photo paper set the printer for its highest resolution, and in the print menu set it to scale the picture to page size and center vertically and horizontally. Most printers will print no more than 600 DPI, but since pictures tend to turn into blocks after resizing you need to scan at a very high resolution to get good picture quality after enlarging.

Hope this helps.

Cool...I gotta try it someday... http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Honest, I've never tried it, just figured that would be the way it would work, knowing how most picture editors work. Boy am I glad I didn't guess wrong!!
