can any one tell me which is the best connection setup for the following.
just installed a new hd ata100 and have existing older hard drive with cdrom and a cd writer. what is the best way to connect ie 1 hd + cdr to ide1 and old hd + cd writer to ide2. i dont want to reduce the speed of new hd.

I belive it would be more beneficial if you kept the hard dirves on IDE 1 primary master and slave. Set your CD-R up on IDE 2 as secondary master and your CD-Rom on slave. I had my CD-RW set-up as a slave drive and I wasn't getting the correct speeds out of it, so I've changed it to a master. Of course you can set these up any way you would like, but I belive most people would say this would be the correct way.
