i am planning to build 1 cheap gaming rig using msi ka 790 gx or msi ka 780g wondering wat is the different between these 2 and which 1 is better to use for gaming

The 790gx is an AM3 board while the 780g is an AM2+ board. The AM3 is better but it all depends on budget and what you are looking to do.

You have an amd board so you'd have to get an amd cpu

go for the triple core it also overclocks pretty well.
