Modem Speaker

Can someone tell me how to turn off the modem speaker in Windows 98. I have an HSP56 Micromodem. It will dial and connect but it continues to handshake. It does not turn off after connecting.

Piece of cake Mike.......Go to Control Panel/System/Modems and look for Properties tab......that is the MAIN vol control for the modem; however, you might have to also go into Dial up Networking to the specific "Connection" you use and modify it there too (just RT. click the icon of the connection you use and go to Properties....then look down the page to "Configure" and change it there too.
