hi, I would like to know which is the minimal set of components required to make an efficient test of the motherboard (basically if it works properly or not). My problem is that i bought a mobo from a reseller that only recently I discovered being very poorly ranked. I do not have all the pieces so I was thinking to buy at least immediately all the necessary pieces to test the mobo and return it in time for the warranty if it is faulty.
thanks

You will probably want a cpu heatsink & fan combo as well....For CERTAIN if it is a AMD or Cyrix cpu...and if you dont use a fan....do it VERY quick.

Incidently, the initial test of a motherboard is to see if it will "Post Up"...that is count the Ram and if you hit the Delete key....go into the Bios Setup. That doesnt guarantee everything is perfect on the motherboard, because to determine if the IDE and Floppy controllers are OK you need to put them on the system as well; however, it gives you confidence to continue with the building of the system.
