Hi everyone,

Just want to know how to fix this annoying problem. Its simple and yet annoying so here it is................

When I download a file I keep getting the window which says

"Open this file from its current location" or "Save file to disk"

I'm sick of this window so I tick the checkbox which says
"Do not ask in future" or something like that......and every time I go to download a file of that type it still brings up the window.

I now have TweakUI but there seems to be no setting in there which will fix it, nor is there anything good in the MS help files......
so can anyone out there help me with this problem.

Thanks if you can

My advice : try using a different client application program.

If you are downloading multiple files from an FTP sites, use an FTP client, and you can automatically recurse down through directory structures.

I use a freeware program calle Winsock FTP (WS_FTP) by ipswitch. Can't find the free version on their website, but you could try something like tucows.

Been wondering about that one, but if I understand you correctly, that window is necessary, otherwise windows has no idea where to save a file to, or whether you want to save and run it later, or run and install now.

That's why I like to refer to the computer as a high speed idiot. It doesn't think for itself, it doesn't know what you want. It just sits there and waits for you to tell it what to do. The bad part is, it makes mistakes really fast...but you have to tell it to make the mistake, fortunately.

Yeah thanks Paleo Pete,

that makes sense, but I'm sure that when I was using Win98 that didn't happen when I ticked the check box that said "do not ask this question again"

Oh well thats windows for ya!!
