help me please, i need my computer for college and i am at my wits end here. Any input at all would be greatly appreciated, i am totally stumped. My Cd-rom reads CD's just fine, i can see all the files on them. however, when i try to install or setup anything from a CD, it starts to work and then displays an illegal operation message. All that it says is, "Setup has accessed memory improperly or encountered some nonspecific error" i have no idea what to do, i can't install any programs now. i recently reloaded windows 98 due to a different error. it got rid of that error and was working beautifully until now. i ccan install things that are already on my hard drive or downloaded from the internet. i don't know what to do. please give me some advice.

THANK YOU

Check your RAM memory. You probably have different type of RAM memory in your system. Try to use only one stick of memory and see if you can install program from your CD-ROM. I hope this will help you.
