For some time i have been selling in a small way some CD's that i have made, chiefly compilations of old catalogues and books that i have written, all in PDF format, with and index in HTML. i have had no complaints at all until now!
One customer who runs Vista complained that the disc was reported as empty. I sent him a new one, and i have the old one here now. It shows all the files, and they will open in Win XP, and ubuntu, but when i tried it in a vista machine, the files were not visible. I thought that CDs were universal!
WTF is going on! any ideas anyone? How can i prevent this happening again?

Possibly disable Vista's native CD burning.

Thanks for the links Paul. It rather looks like a bug in Vista more than a fault in the CD. I wonder if Win7 has the same fault? i can only put a note on the CD that it may not work in Vista!

It's a weird one certainly and sounds like some sort of Vista bug since it happens to your Vista box as well. I suppose you try burning on a different drive, with a different make of CD and ensuring that you close the compilation - but apart from suchlike I have had no particular brainwave.

be wary of strong drink - it may make you shoot at tax collectors, and miss!

Should be amended to say "be wary of strong drink - it may make you shoot at Bill Gates, and miss!"
