Hello all,

We recently purchased a new setup to replace our failing one.
We now have:
- EVGA Nvidia Nforce 750i sli FTW
- Intel Core 2 Quad 2.33ghz
- 4gb PNY RAM 800ghz
- 750 watt psu

Still using our old hard drives, both SATA. We had Windows XP installed.
We're also using our old gpu - an Nvidia 9500gt 512 GDDR3.

So here are the issues we're having:
- Initially we had no boot. The mobo was getting power but not powering on. We replaced our old PSU.
- When we did get a boot, we entered the BIOS and CMOS settings and set it all to what the manual recommended: the PC failed to boot into Windows and was just giving us looping boots. BIOS was giving a correct post code beep each time.
- We thought we might've had the HDDs set up improperly so we double checked those and now we're back to square one with the mobo not powering up at all.

This mobo does have the LED screen that gives you boot error codes but none of them so far have been helpful. And until we can get it to power on we can't even get those.

Any ideas? I know there are some things to try out there but I'm not really sure which would be appropriate at this junction.

Thanks in advance. Hope I gave you enough information.

Update!

We now have power again, but have returned to the looping boot. When we try to boot into safemode, we get the classic sptd.sys error.... any ideas?

Thanks again.

Yeah, you need to reinstall Windows...your drivers for the old system are interfering and preventing the boot. Unless you have the same chipset/CPU as the board you are replacing NEVER expect to just plug in an old drive and go.

If you have the windows installation disk you can try a repair install, but a fresh install is strongly recommended to avoid further problems.
