Computer won't plug n play firewire audio device

Folks,

Just got a new motherboard and CPU for my PC and am having some issues. I have a MOTU MKII firewire audio input device. When I turn it on prior to turning on the computer it seems to work well. However, when I turn the computer on first and then later try to turn the device on, the computer never recognizes the device and subsequently will not shut down afterwards. The device used to work fine on my old computer set up and I am wondering what the fix might be. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
