I have about 15 computers on a network. Most of them Mac OS 10.5, and a couple XP Pro systems. I don't want the Mac users to have access to the XP folders through the network. Basically when trying to access one Mac from another Mac it asks for a password, XP doesn't. It just lets all users (other PC's as well) right in with full access.
I would prefer to password protect all shared folders on the PC's but can't seem to figure it out.
All PC's are XP PRO. Simple File Sharing is turned off. All have a password on the Admin account. They are in a simple MSHOME workgroup.
Some methods I've seen online say to uncheck "Share this Folder" under Properties > Sharing, then it will require a password to access it. Instead it just becomes unavailable through the network.
Other methods claim that if I check "Encrypt contents to secure data" under Properties > General > Advanced tab it will then require a password. Nope, all network access is granted to all computers.
I'm at a bit off a loss here and I'm not a network expert obviously. It's funny, I always see "how can I access xxx through my network?" For me it's the opposite, everything already IS accessible and I don't want it to be.
Thanks for any help.
