Can't turn it off in Task Manager. Can't keep it from starting up in Services and msconfig/startup.
Anybody have any ideas how I can do this??

Less of the "in your face" text would be appreciated and is best reserved for just highlighting a specific point.
If you want to stop task scheduler from running then I would start by attempting to disable the service from starting automatically followed by a reboot - even though that is what you seem to have attempted.

Just like the people in the link you posted, I also could not turn off taskeng.exe. In services.msc you don't even have the option to stop or disable this function, it's all greyed out.
I unchecked Task Scheduler process in msconfig and it came back with a check in it's box. Obviously Bill wants complete control over our systems when he makes a move like this.
I will try what one person reported having success with which was a program called KillProcess. I will post here if it works.

Just restarted my computer after using KillProcess that I downloaded from download.com and taskeng.exe has NOT returned!! If it does sneak back I will report but so far so good.
Disabling many of the processes in Task Manager will allow your PC to run noticeably faster. I know this cause I only have like 5 processes running right now and she is smoking!!!
I am successfully using Vista Premium cause I installed it on my newly made PC that is super strong and can handle Vista. Vista got a bad rap cause, I feel, many people installed it on inferior systems that couldn't handle it.
I also bought it cause it came with a coupon for a free upgrade to Windows 7. :)
