How virilant is this virus, and how does it attack ones pc. Can it be deleted or does one have to re install all one os and soft ware, as I am led to believe...?

Lot`s of blogs in a search on this and many want to throw in the towel and just format and reinstall but there is a removal tool by Symantec along with a few other helpful programs if anything gets you stuck along the road to recovery.
I am one who will try something like that but I give it a sort of time limit. If, after a week, I`m still struggling with it, that is when I will throw in the towel and wipe the drive with a steam roller!
Good luck. By what I`m reading, you`re gonna need it. Hopefully it`s a customer`s PC!

Thans FTT.
I visited a site similar to this one, which I have not done so for quite some time. I was suprised when one of the members, after instruction. It was discovered he/she had the virus and was advised to re-install etc, because there is no cure. After some research I found the following site which completely is the opposite. So it makes one think does it not?

The problem is that Virut is a file infector, and any executable file, exe, com. scr or pif can be infected. But it is not very good at it, and removing the infection can fubar the file. While removal tools claim to remove it, the file corruption resulting cannot be cured, so wiping and reinstalling is the only way of being certain of getting a clean system!
