Hi every1,

Want to know why when I want to set up Net Meeting's feature called
"Remote Desktop Sharing" it doesn't appear to be an option that can be selected from my "tools" menu.

This is so frustrating for me......why is this the case does anyone know??
Do I have to do something that is not blantantly obvious to me or what!!??

Anyone if you could help, it would be kindly appreciated.

Cheers

Beno

g'day m8 http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

wondering what version Netmeeting you have click here (http://www.zing.com/picture/p8441b7960718ddaebd72fc759a510c87/fed3dbb4.jpg.orig.jpg) to see a screenshot of my NetMeeting.

I have Version 3.01 (some say it is worse than previous versions) I don't have an opinion on that. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

so open it and click "Help" and "About", and it will say which version you have.

Post back and we will see ......

**ps** "click here" was made (as all my screenshots are) with a very usefull and easy/friendly app called PrintKey2000, it uses the 'dead' "PrtScrn/Sys Rq" (useless) button in F-key area of keyboard.

You can get it Free here (http://newlife-win98.server101.com/printkey_info.htm), and it doesn't expire.
** and NO, I don't work for them.. hehe

Hey there Sea69,

Thanks heaps for your reply mate.
I have the same as you V3.1.
Yeah that PrintKey2000 thingy is really good!!

So what do u think I should do about this one.
I mean I would reinstall it again but don't know how to do that.
I would usually do the norm of going to the control panel but it doesn't list it there so I'm stuffed as far as that idea goes.

Maybe you could tell me about deleting it from the Windows Explorer method.

Anyway.........it would be great if you could get back to me on it

Cheers Mate

ok then, assuming you saw the screenshot of my 3.01- does yours not look the same??

If not then somethings wrong and therefore you should un/reinstall.

Go to "Add Remove Programs" in control panel. Scroll down; you will see Netmeeting - highlight and uninstall.

Follow the screen prompts. Then if you like it enough...re-install it.

Depending on what you use your video connection for, there are alternatives to Netmeeting.

There is camarades (http://www.camarades.com), intel has 'Video Phone', There's ICII (http://www.icuii.com/) is very nice (and free http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

That should keep you occupied a minute or too ... and gives you a few more choices.

Please let us know how it goes.

Hey there Sea69,

Yeah mate I did what you said about going to the control panel and trying to remove the program but for the life of me I can't see NetMeeting, the program that I want to remove!!!!

Trust me, I searched for ages trying to find it, and it just wasn't there, which brings up a good point, - - how in the hell am I supposed to remove it!!!????

I suppose I could go into Win Explorer and try from there, but I am not sure whether I would do a complete job and am not exactly sure about how to do it :-|.

The picture that you sent me of your netmeeting looks to me to be exactly the same and I have included a link here to show you what mine looks like :-)) here (http://www4.tpgi.com.au/users/benok/) it is!!

Maybe you could help me out by telling me how I would remove a program that is not in the "Add/Remove" programs list????

Or maybe there is something more subtle that you have that I don't.
Have you had a service pack upgrade at all or have you configured NetMeeting in a special way.........or do u have to do something before you start the "Remote Desktop" option at all???

Anyway, I'll let you get back to me on it.

Thanks very much for that

now are you saying that if you scroll down in "add/remove prgrams you don't see http://www.zing.com/picture/p9c6abdfc840840ae2197673e801d3c28/fed1c3e8.gif.orig.gif

it just about has to be there.

Hey there Sea69,

I really appreciate you writing back to me all the time, your a very kind person and I thank you.

Now I have print screened the add/remove control panel for you so you can see what mine looks like here is my
control panel (http://www4.tpgi.com.au/users/benok/addremove.html) so you can check it out!!

So once you have had a look at it, can you tell me what you think I should do to get rid of it and install it again without using the control panel.

Cheers Mate

Beno

whhhhooooooo hoooooooooo!!

ok, I see the prob ( I hope) http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

You didn't tell me ( and I didn't ask).. you have win2k, I'm still using Win98se.. your control panel options are in different places.. I believe you need to click in the Top area " Change or Remove Programs".. is where you should see and be able to safely remove Netmeeting.. try that and post back!!

Hey there Sea69,

My modem screwed itself the other day, so my machine is in repair and probably won't get it back till the end of this week :-((

But in the control panel area for win2k, if I click on change programs, that area to my knowledge (so don't trust me!!) is only for a given program that already appears in the add/remove programs list.

Please correct me if I am wrong.
If I don't respond to you in a few days, then don't worry because my machine will hopefully be fixed by thurs/fri.

Gee what a task this has been ehh!!

Good learning lesson though I spose :-))

Speak to you soon
