Hi,
I couldn't solve this on my own, and asked some others for help.
Since this is such an old laptop, the pc guy whom I asked said that at the moment he has no reserve hdd to test. But the laptop didnt want to boot from a cd or usb. In the BIOS it detects no HDD, only cdrom, etc. When I boot it up, before it goes into BIOS, it says 0200: Failure Fixed Disk. Can't get past it. This just came up from no-where after updating video drivers, and without restarting loading a game, black screen, forced reboot by holding power switch.
Any help?
Martin

Try pulling the hard drive and reseating it, if the BIOS still doesn't detect it the you will need either another hard drive to test in that laptop or a USB enclosure to put that drive into for testing.

i've tried reseating a couple of times already. The problem is that the laptop can't boot from a different device, and it doesn't even see the hdd in bios.
what do u mean with the USB?

Hard drives can do that. But be forewarned it will fail again. Back it up and check it out ASAP.
