What make/model router?
(If you remember your old password)
Go to RUN command, type cmd and hit Enter or OK.
In black command window type ipconfig and hit Enter.
Look for the gateway address and write it down.
Close the command prompt window.

Open your web browser, type the gateway address and enter/go. You should now be looking at an admin password prompt for the router. Put in the old password and enter. Once in you can change the password in the router interface.

If you don't have the old password, simply press the Reset button on the router for 20 seconds, the router will now have factory default passwords, you now can enter the web interface by browsing the gateway address and can reconfigure all security settings.

I got all the way to where I'm suppose to type the old password but it's not accepting it. I think it may have dumped my old password because it now says (unsecure network). If I hold the router reset button for 20 seconds I'm worried I might lose my internet connection? Not sure how to browse for a gateway address.
Thanks for the replies...

Still waiting for what make model of router, your reply does seem to say the configuration is default at this stage.

Try opening your browser and typing 192.168.1.1
This should take you to your routers logon page. Try logging in with what you think your user name and password is. If you can't remember what it is, try using admin for the username and admin for the password. If that doesn't work, I am afraid you will have to do a factory reset and go back to opening your browser and typing the address listed above and using admin as your login and password. You must use a network cable from your computer to the router when setting it up. Set it up unsecured then save your changes. Unplug your modem and router and plug them back in, reboot your computer and test your internet connection. After verifying that it works, go back in to your router admin and set your security for your wireless network if you have the need for using that. Go to the password area inside your routers admin and change the username and password to something easy for you to remember but hard for someone else to figure out. I have done this a hundred times, it's no biggie.

and typing the address listed above

Routers' admin areas use different IP addresses and 192.168.1.1 is not by any means universal. The KR2 Mobile Router uses 192.168.0.1 (http://www.mobipcs.com/hele/downloads/KR2RouterSetup.pdf)
