Thanks in advance for all of your responses!
I just want to know if connecting Win2kPro pc's together in the bus topology ethernet is just as easy as with Win98 pc's? are there any extra steps or more things to consider or to configure with Win2kPro pc's? If there are then would you give me some more info pls! Once again thanks in advance for all of your inputs!!!

In general should be similar -- you will find that the things you need to configure are in different places http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif

You need to be concerned with with your logon identity. In 2K there *IS* a difference between the administrator user and a user with admin privledges...

Yeah, if you can network with Win98, you can network with Win2k http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif .

I can only think of one other difference on the surface: the NetBEUI protocol is not installed by default, only TCP/IP is. Your local network will work just fine on TCP/IP (and it is required for the internet), but NetBEUI is faster (less overhead). NetBEUI is easily installed with the "Network and Dial-up Connections" applet in Control Panel. Right click on "Local Area Connection"; select "Properties". On the "General" tab, click the "Install..." button, then select "Protocol". Cick the "Add..." button. In the next dialog box, select "NetBEUI Protocol", then "OK". After doing this, NetBEUI will appear on the "General" tab of "Local Area Connection Properties". (Side note: the "Sharing" tab can enable Internet Connection Sharing.) Close the dialog box to return to the "Network and Dial-up Connections" window.

OK, so now we've got two protocols installed (TCP/IP and NetBEUI), how does the network know which one to use? It tries to connect using each installed and enabled protocol until it finds one that works, using the "Bindings" list from the top to the bottom. Here is how to check the order of the bindings list: From the top selection bar in the "Network and Dial-up Connections" window, click on "Advanced". On the drop-down menu, choose "Advanced Settings...". The bindings lists are displayed. We just installed NetBEUI, so it is at the top of the list. If we wanted to change its position on the list (and therefore its order of preference): Highlight the protocol by clicking on it, then use the up/down arrow buttons on the right side of the dialog box.
