stupidity

i have a friendwho was installing a secondary hard drive on his pc,during the process,he broke one if the connector pins on the main drive.Now the pc will not reconize the main hard drive
Is there a fix,as he has alot of important data on that drive

He needs to find someone with "great" skill with a soldering iron and a bit of luck...the pin needs to be reattached to the base it is on and then be strong enough to allow the cable to be reattached so the bios can detect the Hard drive and access it. Tedious and possibly expensive process......the only other alternative I'm aware of is to take it to a place that extracts data from drive platters (they are rather expensive...as in $350+ US).
