I added a new stick of ram (1 GB) to my computers mother board and the computer refused to powerup so I removed it and the computer started as per
usual. It already had a small amount of memory (256mb) installed. The ran was pc3200 and the board specs stated it could handle this but I am new at this so any thoughts on what happened? The motherboard is sis 661fx/p4(www.sis.com) cheers

Ram compatibility with mobo is an area that is frequently overlooked.

In the first instance [assuming that you have purchased the correct ram and also assuming that the mobo has a max slot capability of > or = to 1gb] is to remove the 256Mb stick and try it with the 1gb stick ONLY.

Trying to run 2 sticks of ram of different sizes and probably made by different manufacturers is asking for trouble.

Good Luck
