Does anyone know how to disable the pop-up suggestion lists (when you are typing in a input field) on IE (5x) and/or the description boxes when you hold your cursor over any icon, etc.? My roommate has a new PC (IBM compat. laptop, P4, Win2000 - don't know much more about it, but could find out if need be) and is annoyed by these features. I know there has to be a way to disable these - but can't remember or find them.
Thanks!

Hi,

I don't know much about the icon pop-up problem, but in order to turn off the auto complete for typing in web addresses, you can turn it off by going here in IE:

Tools/Advanced/Browsing. Uncheck the box beside where it says: "Use inline AutoComplete for web addresses".

Cheers,

Thanks BB... I'll try that as soon as I can get my hands on my roommates PC. I tried to find it here on my work IE, but could not. I suspect that is because I HAVE to use IE 5.0 for work (and got my hands severely slapped for upgrading - another story altogether).

Also, in case anyone is interested, I stummbled across the answer to my second question - go to:
start/settings/control panel/folder options/view (tab) and uncheck "Show pop-up description for folder and destop items"

BTW - I just read through the introductions and think it's cool that you and your sons are restoring a '66 Caddie. How 'bout posting a pic? http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
