System Build Problem

It has been along time since I build a computer. My system configuration are as follow:

1. ASUS Rampage II GENE LGA 1366 Intel X58 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
2. Intel X25-M Mainstream SSDSA2MH080G2C1 2.5" 80GB SATA II MLC
3. EVGA 896-P3-1257-AR GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 Superclocked Edition
4. Intel Core i7-920 Bloomfield 2.66GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor
5. NZXT SEN-001LX Sentry LX Aluminum dual bay fan controller - Retail
6. COOLER MASTER HAF 932 RC-932-KKN1-GP Black Steel ATX Full Tower
7. Corsair Hydro H50 CPU Liquid Cooler
8. Corsair Dominator 6144MB PC12800 DDR3 [12Gig]


The system behaviors were abnormal during POST:

1. Sometimes POST failed keyboard.
2. Keyboard freezes up when I am inside BIOS.
3. When trying to do reboot, system gives a blank screen w/o POST.
4. After a few system reboot and fiddle around, computer wouldn't even POST any more.

Lastly, I disconnect all the peripherals...only leaving RAM, Video, and CPU. First, I took out RAM and power on, POST went through and beeped indicating no RAM. Then I put RAM back in, took video card out. Power on...no post at all.

AT this point, I am thinking it is either the CPU or Motherboard need to be RMA. I called new egg to RMA the motherboard. Since I haven't build a system in a long time, around 5 years. I like to hear everyone thoughts about this particular problem I am having...Thank you for you time reading this post. :p

I would try the barebones boot outside of the case...

ya you should try with just the power supply, motherboard, ram, video card, and cpu outside of the case

Do you guys think there is a short between the case and MB? I RMA my board already, it should be back sometime next week. I am crossing my finger it was the MB that cause the problem.

A barebones outside the case is an easy cross-check. If it works and then doesn't inside the case you know where to start looking.

For me, standard procedure for new builds...

If you do it out the case, some does not work right. How would you go though and eliminate good components? Can you write me short procedure...thanks.
