Hi. I'm using Win98 and A voodoo 5 with every latest driver (Every 3dfx driver, as well as wickedGL and GLsetup)
But my question is, how to change my primary display driver from Direct3d to Glide/OpenGL. A lot of my games run on the primary display driver, which is Direct3d, but I wanna change it to Glide because it is a lot better... I just wanna know how!!!
Thank you for your time

Hi,

I have a Voodoo 4 4500 PCI and I had to do a bit of reading to figure out how to answer this one. It is my understanding that if you have the correct features enabled for Glide, that the software will automatically detect when you are to use it. I can't guarantee that however, because I haven't had time to play around with it, nor do I do a lot of gaming.

You only have one display adapter, and that's the Voodoo 5. You can't change that. In order to make sure the Glide functions are enabled, go to Control Panel/Display/Settings/Advanced/3Dfx Advanced Tools. Expand the the OpenGL/Glide line item by clicking on the + sign. Now click on the + sign of each line item below the OpenGl/Glide heading. Make sure that it's Enabled or set to Automatic. If you have questions about any item, highlight and right-click on it. That will bring up a box that says, "What's This?". Click on that and the help window will appear so you can read up on it.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Maybe some other people who have experience with your particular problem can shed even more light than I have.

Cheers,

Big Blue

Do you like your crow with or without salt?

I just deleted your other topic, asking why you hadn't been answered. That was totally unnecessary, and the language unacceptible. No more language of that sort will be tolerated on this forum.

If nobody answers your question it's either because none of these people have logged on and seen it yet, or the ones that have do not have an answer to post. Returning with such a rude and vulgar post as that one will also not encourage anyone to make much effort to help, and I for one don't blame anyone that refuses to reply.

I also do not appreciate the people here being called the kinds of things I read in your other topic, we have a great crew here and I WILL NOT TOLERATE insulting and abusive remarks aimed in their direction.

I think you owe these people an apology. And I'll bet my boots soon as BB66 saw your other topic he wished he'd never answered this one...Don't ever insult these people like that again, I promise your user name will be deactivated permanently. And you will not be able to create another one...

normal? when did being normal become partnered with morality? when you start confusing the virtue of normalcy with real virtue is when you anger people who will not tolerate the stains that you have brought to their surroundings.

i do agree that a man has the freedom to do almost whatever he pleases. however, this is beyond those boundaries. it is also about common courtesy. forums like these are not rights, they are priviliges. And we should treat them as such. we need to show it, it's users and it's hosts the respect and courtesy that are entitled to them. these people offer their time and knowledge with nothing to gain but the satisfaction that they have helped another human being. do not belittle their goodwill by making such crude comments. it's not very nice.

As stated above, the use of these forums is a privilege, and has little to do with rights. Certainly you have the right to view these forums if you wish, but participating is a privilege. You also agreed to the Acceptible Use Policy when yopu registered your user name, which states in part:

You agree, through your use of the Forums, that you will not use the Forums to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violate any laws. You further agree not to impersonate any person or entity, forge headers or otherwise manipulate identifiers in order to disguise the origin of any posting, or collect or store personal data about other users.

Your abuse, insults and language in this and the deleted topic are in direct violation of that specific paragraph of the AUP and in particular the section in bold text.

As I stated in my previous post, language if this sort will not be tolerated. Any further posts you manage to make involving this kind of language will be promptly deleted, until your user name is disabled, which I don't think will take long.

If you wish to treat people who try to help you in this manner and persist in using such abusive and vulgar language even after being asked not to do so, you need to go to Yahoo chat. They deal with people like you every 5 minutes, but here you will not be tolerated.

Or you can go try talking to your mother like that...

Good bye and good riddance. We don't need you and your small minded idiocy.

Unfortunately, it seems that "saliva151" does not share the values of most of the rest of the group on these forums, and furthermore, seems to lack what I would call basic human respect and reasonableness.
I have therefore taken the unfortunate step of disabling his posting access, and deleting a rather profane and abusive posting. Since "saliva151" thinks that abusing people and swearing is acceptable behavior, I would encourage him to find another BBS with others of a similar leaning.
Apologies to all who had to read that nonsense. Please, don't hesitate to contact me if you see something like this in the future; I will take care of it immediately.
