View Full Version : Is There a Hub for @ 2 printer Hookup

Is there a hub that allows you to hook up 2 printers to the same PC??
My reasoning is this!!
I have a Sharp (multi) I would like to leave hooked up for black print and
convenience of telephone and fax capabilities.
I also have a Lexmark Z11 Photo Maker that I would like to hook up for just
color printing, and photo printing.

I am guessing from your response posts on networking (internet connections) that these printers do not have Ethernet plug capabilities.
If that is the case, then you can use a parallel plug splitter. Should be able to find it at most computer stores. Does one of the printers have a stackable plug setup?

In addition to bassman's suggestion, you can put a SECOND LPT ISA (or PCI i think) card in the computer. I used to have a splitter, but got tired of having to "switch" between the printers not only in the software but also the manual switch on the splitter. You can get an LPT card for less than $15 at a electronics store.

You can get electronic switches now that don't require physically changing from one to the other, I'm not sure how well they work, I'm quite content with my manual one.

You might also be able to install each printer on a different machine on your network, then share both. Then any machine on the network can use either one. No unusual hardware would be required, just set them up as normal local printers, then share them. You'll have to make sure each has a unique name for network purposes though...
