My vista PC recently started having troubles connecting to the internet, I can connect to my router just fine, my xp computer thats connected wirelessly through the router and the xbox 360 thats connected can access the internet just fine, so it can't be the router. And besides that, I've tried bypassing the router and still no luck. When I connect the router to the PC, the network icon in the tray says connected, but "Local Only". I have a hunch that it has something to do with the dns settings, because I was following a tutorial on how to speed up vista and I had recently edited dns in the registry, but when I went back into the registry to change it back after I couldn't connect, the keys that I added weren't even there. If anybody could help my situation, it would be much appreciated.

Hello

Check Program Access in the Control Panel and make sure the Browsers all have 'check marks". Also check Device Mgr. and check to see if you have a yellow flag on TCP/IP. TCP/IP has to be running or nothing goes out of the computer.

Thanks
Have a nice time ahead

Check to see if your modem is updating the IP address. Reset the modem to factory condition by using the reset button

I tried resetting the modem and nothing, browsers all have access, but I can't find tcp/ip in device manager, I've expanded everything and its not there
