I have a two year old Dell that suddenly comes up in post with a keyboard controller failure and no keyboard will work. I have tried multiple keyboards and multiple USB slots. This puter has no PS2. USB mice etc will work in the usb ports so that isn't the problem.
I am looking at a pci slot expansion card with PS2 ports on it on Newegg.

Is this card going to have a functioning keyboard controller on it? Is this the best solution as a new mobo is not practical.

No it won`t. All it will do is provide an alternate way to hook up a keyboard. The pathway will be the same,,, through the failing keyboard controller. :(

Sorry.
