I have the above mentioned program. It's on 2 CD's. Whenever you use the program you have to keep switching the CD's in and out of the CD drive.
Is there a way to use the program with out having to use the CD's? Hard drive space is not an issue. Could you fine folks tell me how to do this on a first grade level http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif. I'm not to computer literate http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Thanks in advance,,,Tink

Welcome to the PC Guide Tink. It is nice to have new folks around http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
Sometimes, during installation of software, you are offered a screen by where you may select your installation choices (Typical, Minimal, Full or Custom). The default is usually Typical which installs a enough to run the program and conserves HD space (Minimal conserves even more HD space). Full usually puts more data on your HD and the Custom allows you to select how much of the program to install-the more you install the less accessing of the CD is done. BUT, if you have selected to install the max you are allowed (of the program) and you find you still need the CDs to use the program...it is probably because the Company has decided to use this feature to prevent piracy of their software. Simply said, they have written code into the application that tells it to look for whatever it needs on the CD itself.
SO my suggestion is to re-install the program and "thumb" through your install options carefully...you can usually go "back" after checking out the option. Select Custom and then just check all you want installed. You can try to install over the top of the current install and if that doesn't work for you-Use the programs uninstaller (Or the Add/Remove programs from Control Panel if there is no uninstall program) and then re-install.

ps-I don't remember who posted this answer on a topic a few months ago, but it is from that post that I learned of the piracy-prevention feature.

There are shareware/freeware programs that let you create "virtual" CD-ROM drives, allowing you to run a multiple-CD application. Try searching google.com for "virtual CD", or check download.com, ZDnet, or Cnet. Last time I looked, the programs were targeted toward games, but there may be some new developments.
