Hi

I have 5 machines on my local home LAN and one of them - my daughters - is consuming some 15-20GB a month (I have established this by downloading networx). She is largely doing MSN/Facebooking and is doing very little video downloading/viewing. I struggle to see why chatting is so expensive in terms of data download.

She might be on for a few hours in the evening but even so.

How can I analyse/assess this further to see if this is reasonable traffic levels ?

Thanks David

If the system is really using that much bandwidth without your daughter actually doing it then 99% chance the computer has been taken over and has become a bot. ;)

Strongly suggest you post an HJT log (http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?t=60009) of your daughters system in the security section (http://www.pcguide.com/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=34) and let the security experts take a look at it.

It's not...the infection she picked up from one of those places is...

I second the 'takeover'.
